Issue #15
It’s my birthday🎉🎈
And here I am bringing 10/10 content to you all when I should be at the club. Kidding, going to a club at my big age (26!) seems like more hassle than it’s worth at this point.
I have the same birthday as Gwenyth Paltrow, Anna Camp, Avril Lavigne and Jenna Ortega; it seems a lot of talented women are born on this day💅
I’ve mentioned this before, but I also have the same birthday as Google, so I thought I’d drop in my favourite Google Doodle.
Short n’ Sweet?💌⏱️
It may or may not have escaped your notice, but songs AND albums have been getting shorter. Mainly due, I think, to the TikTokification of music. Since users have been clipping songs in order to match a certain section with the content of their videos, artists have been getting the jump on this and creating clippable music with what’s essentially filler either side.
What does it matter if the remaining 90 seconds of the song are mid (at best) when the viral 30 second bit is making all the money?
An average of two minutes and a half minutes is too short for a song in my opinion. Obviously, the odd shorter song among an album of three to four minute long songs is perfectly fine, but when every single song on an album (and on the radio) doesn’t even touch the three minute mark, it feels lazy.
And that’s that on that🫡
(a short n sweet blog for you)
